Writing to make a difference: Discursive analysis of writer identity in research articles on management

چکیده

Our purpose in this research is to quantitatively analyse how the communication of managerial knowledge realised articles written by experienced writers for publication and those produced graduate students as a course grade requirement. Specifically, we look at ways these construct their authorial identities (textually conveyed ‘voice’). To do so, combine Hyland’s (2008) interactional model voice with Author’s (xxxx) conceptualisation ‘writer identity.’
 The study results reveal important differences regard expression interaction discourse, novices employing more interpersonal features involve readers authors making linguistic choices establish authority texts. We show that use metadiscourse renders academic texts accessible, reader engaging interesting. This enables us work towards development effective writing instruction which particularly relevant English Academic Purposes pedagogy.
